Voice and Likeness Policy
Effective:
In plain words: Your voice and face are yours. We only clone your voice or lip-sync your face after you sign a consent form and read a short consent statement on camera. We use them only for videos you ask for, never sell them, and delete them when you ask, when you leave, or after 12 months without use, whichever comes first.
This policy explains how Yabily handles the voice and face data used to make personal videos. It is our publicly available retention and destruction schedule for that data, and it forms part of our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
What we create
- Voice model: a synthetic voice generated from your recording, used to speak short lines such as "Hello Jane!" in your voice.
- Lip-sync data: the facial movement information our lip-sync provider derives from your video so your lips match the generated words. It is processed for each clip and not kept as a separate face template.
- Source recordings: the original video and audio you give us.
Consent before anything is made
Before we create a voice model or lip-sync any video of you, we ask for:
- Written consent. You sign a short consent form that names the data we will create, what it is for, who processes it and how long we keep it.
- A recorded consent statement. You read a statement on camera, in the same session as your recording, so we can confirm the voice and face belong to the person giving consent:
"My name is [your full name]. Today is [date]. I agree that Yabily may create a synthetic version of my voice and lip-sync my video, only to make personal videos that I request. My code is [one-time code]."
The one-time code is a random phrase we give you at the time of recording, which helps prevent anyone from reusing an old recording of you. We do not accept recordings of anyone other than the customer.
How we use it
- Only to produce videos you request, with words you approve.
- Never to make you say anything you have not approved, and never in our own marketing without your separate written permission.
- Never sold, leased, traded or otherwise profited from.
- Shared only with the providers that generate voice and lip-sync for us (currently ElevenLabs and Sync Labs), under terms that limit their use to providing that service, or where the law requires.
- Each customer has one voice model. Recording again replaces the old one, which is deleted.
How we protect it
Source recordings and voice data are kept in private storage, encrypted in transit, and accessible only to the people producing your videos. We protect this data with at least the same care we use for our most sensitive business information.
Retention and deletion schedule
| Data | Deleted |
|---|---|
| Voice model (at our provider and in our files) | Within 30 days after the first of: you withdraw consent or ask for deletion; you end the Service; 12 months pass without a new video being ordered. In every case, no later than 3 years after your last interaction with us. |
| Source recordings | |
| Lip-sync working files | Deleted after your videos are delivered and approved, and no later than the voice model. |
| Signed consent form and consent recording | Kept as proof of consent for as long as we hold any of your voice or face data, plus up to 3 years after deletion in case of a dispute, then deleted. |
| Finished videos you received | Yours to keep. Copies we host are removed on the schedule in our Privacy Policy or sooner on request. |
We confirm by email when deletion is complete. Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for a short period until those backups expire.
Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing privacy@yabily.com. We stop all new production right away and delete your data on the schedule above. Withdrawing consent does not recall videos you have already sent to others.
Misuse
If you believe someone has used Yabily to imitate your voice or face without your consent, email abuse@yabily.com. We will investigate promptly, take down any hosted content involved while we look into it, and end the account of anyone who has broken our rules.
